Argentina beats Indonesia 2-0 without Messi

The friendly victory closes out the albiceleste’s Asian tour

The Argentine men’s national team closed out their Asian tour this morning with a friendly victory against Indonesia 2-0 at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta.

Midfielder Leandro Paredes scored a rocket goal in the 37th minute with a masterful shot from well outside the penalty area, giving Lionel Scaloni’s team a 1-0 lead in the first half.

A header from center-back Cristian Gabriel “Cuti” Romero 10 minutes into the second half consolidated the Scaloneta’s latest win, following a corner kick from Giovani Lo Celso.

Today’s match was the last of two friendlies scheduled in the team’s Asian tour — the albiceleste won against Australia last week in China with the fastest goal of Lionel Messi’s career.  Argentina’s legendary team captain wasn’t on the pitch today and neither was winger Angel Di María: our award-winning goalie Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez was there to make a couple of saves, though.
