President Javier Milei claimed on X that video footage of his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos was edited. It was his first response to the massive Saturday march in which thousands of people protested against his comments about queer people, women, migrants, and other groups during the speech.
In response to a user who asked him what he would tell the LGBTQIA+ community, Milei said: “It pains me greatly that they were used by the State Party scumbags through a video that was edited, when the complete version of the message leaves no room for doubt.”
Days after his Davos speech, Milei wrote an X post in which he argued he respected people’s life choices but that he would not tolerate “the imposition of an agenda whose only consequence is the infinite expansion of the state, and therefore, the death of freedom.”
The Sunday post was Milei’s first direct response to the anti-fascist, anti-racist pride marches that took place all over the country the previous day. However, Milei shared dozens of users’ posts criticizing and mocking the march.
Some described the march as a poorly-attended “failure.” Others shared pictures and videos of children marching, accompanied with messages such as “Milei was right.”
Milei’s words, which prompted nationwide protest, were included in the full video and transcription of his speech released by the presidential communications team.
“These forums promote the LGBT agenda, in an attempt to impose on us that women are men and that men are women just because they perceive themselves that way, and say nothing when a man dresses up as a woman and kills his rival in a boxing ring or when a prisoner says he is a woman and ends up raping every woman that crosses his path in prison,” Milei said.
He went on to mention a case in which two gay men were convicted of sexually abusing their adopted children in the United States, before saying: “In its most extreme version, gender ideology simply and plainly constitutes child abuse. They’re pedophiles.”
The Trans Journalists Association deems the term “gender ideology” a charged term used by anti-trans commentators to imply that trans people are imposing an agenda by their mere existence.
