Flag carrier Aerolíneas Argentinas will offer late-night flights with discount fares for five top destinations, in a move to compete with local low-cost airlines and long-distance buses. 

Starting October 31, Aerolíneas Argentinas passengers will be able to fly red-eye — between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. — to and from five top destinations: Bariloche, Iguazú, Salta, Comodoro Rivadavia, and Trelew. 

The Iguazú and Bariloche routes will have fares starting at AR$17,560. Tickets for Salta and  Trelew will be available for as low AR$21,670. The Comodoro Rivadavia leg will start at AR$37,760. These fares are for one-way trips and do not include taxes. They will be available both for online purchasing and through travel agencies.

Each destination will have a daily round-way flight from Buenos Aires City’s Aeroparque (Jorge Newbery Airport). 

According to the company, these red-eye flights are designed to provide a convenient and affordable choice for people with flexible flight schedules.

“These air fares will be highly competitive, particularly for those who choose to plan their trips ahead and purchase their tickets in advance,” the statement read.

According to the National Administration of Civilian Aviation (ANAC for its Spanish acronym), Aerolíneas Argentinas is currently in third place regarding domestic flights passengers, behind low-cost airlines Flybondi and JetSmart. 

The ANAC’s July report from the National Administration of Civilian Aviation (ANAC for its Spanish acronym), showed a considerable and sustaining  drop of more than 640,000 domestic flight passengers in the first semester 2024 against last year’s numbers.
