Get Out! The Herald’s weekend recommendations

A Choripan Festival, an Editor’s Fair, and a luxury wine event

It’s cold, and windy, and wet outside, and while getting out may be the last thing you’re wanting to do, we’ve got a few suggestions that make the offer pretty tempting.

Finally it’s the weekend, and if you’re a chori lover, a book lover, or a wine lover (these aren’t mutually exclusive), then these events might be worth braving the temperatures for.

Chori Fest

Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 — Noon to 8 p.m.
Hipódromo de Palermo (Av. Del Libertador and Dorrego)
Free entry

If a choripan in one hand, and a beer in the other sounds like a good way to spend the weekend, make your way down to the Hipódromo and choose between 35 stalls and food trucks offering more than 100 types of choris.

From classic to gourmet, menus include lamb chorizo with red onion, yogurt, cucumber, mint, and sweet potato, as well as a vegetarian choripan with eggplant, spinach, goat cheese, and honey.

If you’re not a fan, but have been dragged along by a chori-lover in your life, don’t worry, vendors will also be selling grilled meats, empanadas, and desserts for you to sit in the corner and gnaw on.

Editors’ Fair

Thursday 8 through Sunday 11 — 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
C Complejo Art Media (Av. Corrientes 6271)
Free entry

The Editors’ Fair will feature more than 330 publishers from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Spain, showcasing their new releases and best works, spanning a broad sphere of genres.

There will be talks featuring a variety of authors and industry professionals. On Friday, you can also donate blood at the Buenos Aires Blood Center area, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Alta Gama BA

Thursday 8 and Friday 9 — 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Palacio Paz (Av. Sta. Fe 760)
Tickets start at AR$28.000 and can be purchased online

If books and choris aren’t your thing (do you even have a heart?), or if you’re just more of a fancy wine person, then we’ve got you covered.

Alta Gama’s eighth Buenos Edition edition gives you access to luxury wines and spirits from more than 300 wineries and distilleries including Fabre Montmayou, Etchart Cafayate, and Finca La Celia. Not to mention the snacks, charcuterie, and chocolates.
