The world alfajor championship is going to make this weekend a controversial one (fruit in the grand-prize-winning alfajor is always a questionable decision), so stay tuned for where that one ends up this year.
Less-controversial however, is a wine crawl in San Telmo, a Palermo street art tour, and an English-speaking play about a soul-sucking vampire. Without further ado, your Buenos Aires weekend recommendations.

The Suburban Players, the longest running English-speaking amateur theater club in Argentina, presents a reinterpretation of Dracula directed by Peter Macfarlane. Dracula: A Gothic Tale Reimagined is the story of a shipwreck with a dead crew and a mysterious wolf. Curious events begin to haunt the town which seem to be tied to the new neighbor Count Dracula. It all leads to an ancient evil in the shadowy vaults beneath the abbey.
This is the final weekend of the production, so it’s your last chance to grab tickets!

The fourth World Alfajor Championship gathers hundreds of producers from Argentina, Uruguay, and 10 other countries all showcasing their best alfajores. The event features a blind tasting competition across 19 categories, awarding Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and selecting the “Best Alfajor in the World 2025.”
Visitors can enjoy tastings, masterclasses, live demonstrations, musical performances, and children’s activities. Special focus this year is on regional alfajores, including the Marplatense style. Since 2022, the championship has celebrated the alfajor as a beloved and evolving culinary tradition. Note of warning — Argentines love their alfajores, and this event gets packed. Do yourself a favor and show up as early as possible to at least attempt to avoid the crowds.
