Buenos Aires’ premiere art show arteba announces 2025 fair

Held on August 29 to 31 at Costa Salguero, arteba will feature more than 400 artists through 67 galleries from 16 countries

Argentina’s top contemporary art show returns.

The Arteba Foundation announced on Thursday that the 2025 arteba fair will take place August 29 to 31 (with pre-opening events on the 27th and 28th) at Centro Costa Salguero, in Buenos Aires.

The event will feature more than 400 artists represented in 67 galleries from 16 countries.
Sponsored by top funder Banco Santander, arteba will feature 44 galleries and art projects in the Main Section (for well-established galleries) and 19 in the Utopia section, a category that focuses on the latest productions and features galleries, artist-run spaces, for-profit and non-profit organizations, and other experimental marketing platforms.

“Arteba is not just a fair, it is a gathering point,” said arteba Foundation President Larisa Andreani at the event’s presentation in ArtHouse. “It’s a platform that brings together scenes, supports careers, promotes new voices, activates collections, and connects territories. Arteba not only reflects what’s happening in contemporary art: it empowers it,” she added.

The selection of galleries and spaces for the Main Section was led by a committee composed of Inés Huergo, head of Galerie Jocelyn Wolff; María Casado, director of María Casado Home Gallery and Vice President of Meridiano; independent curators Florencia Malbrán and Lara Marmor; and Pablo de Sousa, head of the Sousa gallery.

Visual artist Juan José Cambre, and independent curator and artist Santiago Villanueva formed the Utopia curatorial committee.

Arteba will also feature a series of public conversations entitled “New Cartographies for Latin American Art,” curated by Aimé Iglesias Lukin, director and chief curator of Americas Society, New York.

For the second year in a row, there will be a food station by the Comedor Gourmet Belleza y Felicidad Fiorito, a program that works to provide residents of the underserved neighborhood with access not only to the nutritional value of food, but also to the pleasure of eating.

Isla de ediciones Fundación PROA will present a selection of publishing houses working around the theme of sound art. The auditorium will host activations and book presentations from participating publishers.

The Museum Acquisition Program and the Collectors and Professionals Program, sponsored by Santander, will take place during the fair. Several awards will be presented, including the Collectors’ Award, which will be granted for the third year and will honor pioneering collector Marion Eppinger. Together with her late ex-husband Jorge Helft, Eppinger kept one of the first important private collections in the region, including pieces by Antonio Berni, Julio Le Parc and Guillermo Kuitca. They also founded the renowned San Telmo Foundation.

In partnership with Santander, arteba is presenting Primera Obra Santander, a program that offers financing options for galleries and buyers for purchasing artwork with credit cards in installments at participating galleries.
