Adolfo Aristarain’s A Place in the World

Perhaps the last classic filmmaker in Argentina, Aristarain made light comedies, film noirs, and thoughtful character-based films with solid storytelling that always delivered a determined political stance — either outspokenly or covertly — through the tropes of his beloved classic Hollywood cinema. To honor his indelible mark on Argentine cinema, the historic Cine York in Olivos is running a retrospective of his most pivotal works.

  • June 19, 8:30 p.m.: Time for Revenge (1981), a fierce, metaphorical thriller that brilliantly challenged the censorship of its era through a story of a labor dispute turned psychological war.
