It’s the end of November already, which in Buenos Aires means that the year is, well, pretty much over. Our prime weekend recommendation would be to find friends who have access to a swimming pool, but in case you come up short, we have you covered with a slew of plans to keep you out and about.

Retiro Abierto

November 27 – 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

More than 50 galleries and design spaces, along with restaurants and hotels, will open their doors with over 100 activities, guided tours, and live music  in one of the fanciest neighborhoods in the city.

From art and literature to history, the event includes several curated tours guided by experts. The tours are free but require prior registration here. Some of the themes set to be covered include “Borges in Retiro,” “Latest Coordinates in the Art Scene,” and “Tradition and Modernity in Retiro,” by food journalist Rodo Reich. Other tours sponsored by Arteba Foundation are available for registration here.

A music show by Dante Spinetta at Plaza San Martín will close the event at 10 p.m.

Golden Retriever Gathering

November 30 – 10 a.m
Plaza Berlín, Palermo, CABA

Organized by actor and influencer Fausto Duperré, this golden retriever gathering aims to break the world record, currently owned by the “Golden Community” of Vancouver in Canada, with over 2000 dogs. 

There is a good chance Buenos Aires will snatch that mark. By the time of writing, more than 2500 people have signed up online to attend on Sunday. The basic rules are that all dogs must always be on a leash, aggressive dogs are not welcomed, owners must bring water and waste bags, and be mindful of the park area. 

Night of the Temples

November 29 – 8 p.m.
+100 temples across the city

More than 100 Buenos Aires temples will be open to the public and offer a series of activities. These include talks and workshops on the religious traditions of each community, live concerts with traditional music, exhibits, film screenings, and art presentations. 

Some of the temples will also offer traditional food tastings. Among them, the Slavic Christian Evangelical Church will serve Eastern Europe cuisine, while the Bene Misrah Community will have Sephardic food and music.

Egypt in Buenos Aires

The National Museum of Fine Arts recently unveiled the “Science and Fantasy: Egyptology and Egyptophilia in Argentina” exhibit, a display that explores the presence of ancient Egypt in Argentine culture and our country’s interest in the ancient civilization.

Featuring more than 180 pieces, all together for the first time in Argentina, the Temporary Exhibitions Pavilion displays authentic sarcophagi, papyri, statuettes and funerary masks, figurines, casts of sphinxes and busts, vases, amulets, and stones carved with hieroglyphs. Also on display will be a vast collection of documents, books, magazines, posters, and photographs.
