Have you ever wondered what it’s like to represent your country, be declared persona non grata, or sneak your favorite treats from home into the diplomatic pouch? You’re in luck! The British Embassy is launching an “Ambassador for a Day” contest, in celebration of International Women’s Day.

“This program is an excellent opportunity for all young Argentine university students who want to explore what it’s like to work in an embassy,” said British Ambassador Kirsty Hayes in a press statement. “We want to continue expanding women’s inclusion in all areas of society.”

This is the fourth time the event has been held, and interest is growing, she added.

The initiative will allow young Argentine women to gain firsthand experience in diplomatic work and join a network of female leaders from various countries in the region. The program is aimed at promoting women’s empowerment, leadership skills, and inclusion in work environments.

The winner will meet and accompany the Embassy’s top officials, visit institutions and experts with whom diplomatic officials interact, join the Latin American network of Ambassadors for a Day, and attend virtual or in-person meetings with British and deputy ambassadors.

They will also gain access to courses and talks on women’s empowerment, as well as invitations to future events organized by the British Embassy.
