Argentine President Javier Milei will receive a cohort of global far-right leaders from Latin America, Europe, and the United States at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Argentina. This will be the first time that CPAC, an annual political conference that convenes right-wing activists and politicians and was first held in Washington in 1974, will take place in the country.
CPAC Argentina 2024 will kick off on Wednesday, December 4, at the Hotel Hilton in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Puerto Madero. The event, titled “Defending freedom, national sovereignty, and traditional values for the future of Latin America,” will start at 11 a.m. and end at 7 p.m. with a closing speech by Milei.
Among the headliners will be former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and Spanish party Vox leader Santiago Abascal, as well as U.S. political commentator Ben Schapiro and Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump, who is U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law.
Other international speakers include Ron Paul, whom the organizers dubbed “the most important libertarian politician in the United States,” Mexican actor and right-wing activist Eduardo Velástegui, Bolivian businessman and politician Branko Marinkovic, and Lima Mayor Rafael López Aliaga.
Local speakers include Economy Minister Luis Caputo — who will give a speech titled “Economic culture war: the end of socialism” — and Security Minister Patricia Bullrich; her presentation is called “New Argentine doctrine: what goes around, comes around.”
Daniel Parisini, who posts on X under the moniker of El Gordo Dan (Fat Dan) and is part of the administration’s communication team, will also speak at the event. Parisini made headlines a couple weeks ago as one of the most visible faces of Las Fuerzas del Cielo (The Forces of Heaven), a new radicalized group of government members that has dubbed itself the administration’s “armed wing.”
Before the gathering on Wednesday, CPAC organizers had a gala on Tuesday night in which Milei and Lara Trump were present. Also at the dinner were CPAC chair Matt Schlapp, Donald Trump political strategist Barry Bennett, CPAC Argentina CEO Soledad Cedro, and Brazilian Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (son of former President Jair)
