You can relive Argentina’s World Cup win at this Palermo club

On Monday, Niceto Club will be throwing a party to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Albiceleste’s triumph, and you’re invited

Dust off your Messi jersey, buy some blue-and-white face paint, and brush up this weekend on the lyrics to Muchachos, the unofficial anthem of the Argentine Men’s National Team. This Monday marks the first anniversary of Argentina’s World Cup victory, and Buenos Aires is ready to party like it’s 2022.

On December 18, Niceto Club in Palermo will be reliving the occasion by screening the Albiceleste’s thrilling victory over France in the tournament final. Argentina raced to a 2-0 lead before France stormed all the way back to force extra time behind two goals from Kylian Mbappé. Lionel Messi put Argentina ahead 3-2, but Mbappé equalized in the 118th minute, setting the stage for one of the most dramatic penalty shootouts in World Cup history.

The club will open its doors at 7 p.m., and internet personalities Nacho Elizalde and Victoria Garabal will present the game one hour later. Attendees can enjoy the action with a beer and a choice of either choripan or vegetarian hamburger, each of which is free with admission. Tickets cost AR$15,000 (approximately US$18 at the official dollar rate, US$15.00 at the MEP dollar rate), and can be purchased here

Once the game concludes, the club will open up its dance floor, and DJs Polaca, Juana Ruda and Vicu Garabal will be spinning until the early morning hours. As the song goes, “ahora nos volvimos a ilusionar” (“Now our hopes are up once more”).

The event, Volver a vivir la final: para lxs que no nos olvidamos que somos campeonxs del mundo (“Relive the final: for those of us who haven’t forgotten that we’re world champions”), will be produced by Polenta and Hay Plan.

Niceto Club is located at the corner of Cnel. Niceto Vega and Humboldt in Palermo Hollywood.
