One of Buenos Aires’ biggest outdoor parties has returned for the summer: Por Amor Al Baile. The free event open to everyone, organized by Diego Bulacio, better known as DJ Villa Diamante, has become a porteño classic. For 2024, it’s moving the venue to Ache Paraje — Pres. Figueroa Alcorta Avenue 2170, next to the Facultad de Derecho — every Thursday from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. Friday.
“Por Amor Al Baile was born at the Recoleta Cultural Center in 2017,” said organizer Villa Diamante. “One of the center’s curators invited me to do an outdoor, free-for-all event at the entrance.”
The party started small, with only 200 people showing up to dance, but then grew exponentially.
“Last time around, in February 2023, we had around 15,000 people,” said the DJ. “It was like a wave of people jumping up and down at the esplanade in Plaza Francia.”
This year, the event is moving to Ache Paraje, just 100 meters from where it all started, with Villa Diamante adding he’s thrilled to be able to keep it a free-entrance event. “The idea is to make a feel-good event where you can meet with friends,” he said. “Many people use it as a chance to reunite after the summer vacations.”
Music-wise, there’s something for everyone, with a mix of hip-hop, cumbia, reggaeton, and rock, from classics to the best of the emerging scene. “We always have guest DJs,” said Villa Diamante. “We’ve had YSY A with Duki, Juan Ingaramo. Most Freestyle scene DJs have been featured, like the women DJs scene which started in 2018, because they rock.”
The party is on every Thursday until March.
