La Francachela

Saturday 7 — 7 p.m.

Scalabrini Ortiz 605 (Villa Crespo)

Free entry

It is with much confidence that we say that no city in the world blends partying and literature quite as well as Buenos Aires. Point in case: La Francachela. This street party organized by used books store Aristipo Libros has music, empanadas, wine, good books, beautiful people, and everything else you could want on a Saturday night filled with alcohol and education.

And because the party never really stops at 1:30 a.m. there’s a post-Francachela at La Quince Cultural Space (Corrientes 5426) with free entry, a bar and a DJ. Just like that, we’ve leveled up your weekend.

Fiesta Junina

Sunday 8 — noon to 10 p.m.

La Rural (Av. Sarmiento and Av. Santa Fe, Palermo)

Tickets are ARS$17,000 and can be purchased online

During the month of June in Brazil, São João is celebrated, which includes the traditional Festas Juninas in various regions of the country, especially in the north. Head to the Rural to celebrate with typical Brazilian food and drinks as well as traditional treats from the Festas Juninas.

There will be a Quadrilha dance, which is mandatory at any São João party worth its salt. Expect live performances by national and international bands, dance group presentations, traditional dances, and DJs to get things into swing.

Saturdays and Sundays in June — 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Free entry

An immersive experience and exhibition centered on La Boca artist Benito Quinquela Martín will be running through June. The audiovisual installation is presented in a continuous loop and explores his artistic legacy and deep community ties.

The video transports you to the portside Buenos Aires depicted in Quinquela’s iconic paintings via the 360° projection and surround sound in the Palacio’s Immersive Room.

Images of sailing ships, bustling port life, and scenes of dockside labor are rendered in a format that emulates the movement and emotion of his paintings. The installation also reflects on Quinquela’s place in the social and cultural fabric of his time, emphasizing his connection with the Argentine people and his commitment to portraying working-class life.

Art workshops for children inspired by his legacy are held every Saturday and Sunday.
