Here they are, your well-deserved Buenos Aires weekend recommendations. This is probably the cheeriest news you’ll read all week. So go ahead, browse it slowly, skim through it twice — there’s a section on cupcakes, another about colorful fashion, and a third and fourth about cheap cinema and cheaper beer.
This article is a beautiful piece of escapism, but don’t worry: the real world will be waiting for you on Monday.
Cupcake Expo
Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 — 1 p.m.-8 p.m.
Pabellón Ocre, La Rural (Av. Santa Fe & Plaza Italia)
Tickets AR$7,000 (US$6.45 at the official rate, US$5.67 at the MEP rate) when purchased in advance online. Kids 16 and under are free
If it was up to me, a cupcake expo would be this week’s only entry. What more could one possibly want? Why even give alternatives when everyone will clearly just go to the cupcake expo? Alas, I wasn’t sure my editor would go for that.
If you have a sweet tooth, don’t miss out on this cupcake, pastry, and baking trade show, which is now in its 28th year. It’s a family-friendly event with more than 70 stands by companies and specialists. There will be masterclasses by renowned experts, so bring your aprons and prepare for some flour power.
The expo is aimed at professional and home baking enthusiasts alike. There will be factory-direct prices on supplies, accessories, and products, as well as student and senior discounts on pastry and gastronomy programs.

Throughout the exhibition, Ágatha Ruiz will participate in a series of open events. On Friday, March 14, fashion students will have the chance to learn about her career in a talk, followed by a presentation of her book Todo por un plan (All for a Plan), in which she will share her story and vision of design.
