Buenos Aires welcomes October with a cultural marathon — MUTEK.AR’s digital spectacle, the FLU used book festival, UBA’s international film showcase, and Casa FOA’s design celebration.
MUTEK.AR
Wednesday 1 through Sunday 5 October
Locations across the city
Tickets can be purchased online
The digital arts and electronic music festival MUTEK.AR returns for its seventh edition, transforming the city into a five-day hub of audiovisual experimentation. This year’s lineup features international artists such as Nicola Cruz (EC), Alexis Langevin-Tétrault (CA/QC), Venice Bleach (UK), Seulement (CA/QC), Luxixi (CN), and Robert Lippok (DE) alongside Argentine talents including Ernesto Ferreyra, Claustro, Julián Tenembaum, MissLupe, and Lucas Gutierrez.

Events will take place at some of the city’s most emblematic venues, including Teatro San Martín, Teatro Colón’s Centro de Experimentación (CETC), the Planetarium, Artlab, and Deseo. Highlights include a large-scale audiovisual opening performance by Langevin-Tétrault at San Martín, MUTEK’s debut at the Colón with a piano-electronics concert by Tenembaum, and immersive full-dome projections at the Planetarium.
Artlab, the festival’s home base, will host Digi Lab talks, A/V concerts, and live sets, including a performance by Cruz. Meanwhile, the Nocturno program at Deseo will focus on the dance floor, with sets spanning techno, acid house, and bass. You can check out a full program of events online.

FLU: Used Book Festival
Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October — noon to 7 p.m.
Plaza del Lector in the Biblioteca Nacional Mariano Moreno (Agüero 2502, Recoleta)
Free admission
The fourth FLU — La Fiesta del Libro Usado (The Used Book Festival) returns bringing together readers, authors and booksellers for a weekend dedicated to books, culture, and community.
Following last year’s turnout of more than 60,000 visitors, this year’s festival promises even more. Attendees can explore a wide selection of used books, attend talks, readings, and workshops, and enjoy live music by Axel Krygier, Marco Amar and La Ferni.
Renowned and emerging cultural figures such as Fabián Casas, Betina González, Natalia Litvinova, Juan Mattio, Santiago Caruso, and others will participate in engaging panels and performances. You’ll want to get there early: the paths along the book stands get crowded, and that makes it harder to check out their selections.

UBA International Film Festival (FIC.UBA)
Wednesday 1 through October 8
Locations across the city
Free admission
The UBA International Film Festival (FIC.UBA) 2025 is hosted by the University of Buenos Aires and the Faculty of Architecture, Design, and Urbanism (FADU). The festival has become a key platform for showcasing cinema, fostering education, and connecting the university community with contemporary audiovisual work from Argentina and around the world.
This year, the festival will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Trial of the Juntas, honoring the judges who played a central role in this historic trial. Screenings will include Argentina, 1985; El Nüremberg Argentino; and El juicio. FIC.UBA 2025 features competitions for international feature films, Ibero-American shorts, and UBA student and recent graduate shorts. Check out a full program of events online.

Casa FOA
Runs Wednesday 1 through November 2 — Open daily from noon to 8 p.m.
Juana Manso 1980 (Puerto Madero Harbour)
Tickets are ARS$18,000 and can be purchased online or at the event
Casa FOA, Argentina’s leading exhibition of architecture, interior design, landscaping and art, is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
The event brings together more than 50 designers, architects, and landscape architects who will transform over 5,000 m² into 40 monumental spaces. Visitors will explore environments inspired by different lifestyles, including bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, coworking areas, wellness spaces, wine cellars, and bathrooms, alongside outdoor patios, art galleries, and staircase installations.
This year’s theme is Urban Maximalism, an aesthetic celebrating abundance in color, texture, and pattern, encouraging bold expression and stylistic diversity. Rooted in contemporary luxury, it combines sophistication, functionality, and durability with innovative design.
