There’s a lot more to La Boca than El Caminito and the Bombonera stadium. The traditional neighborhood is also a hotspot for contemporary art galleries and collections, and as this free tour on Saturday, July 13 will show. Highlights include esteemed art hub Proa, which is currently featuring an exhibition of contemporary Mexican artists. The tour will also stop at the Larivière Foundation and its extensive 19th-century Latin American photography collection, and Colón Fábrica, the warehouse of Teatro Colón, which houses and exhibits sets, props and costumes from original opera and ballet productions staged in Argentina’s most renowned opera house.

You don’t need to book for the tour, which begins at noon in Fundación Santander and stops at every spot until 6 p.m. Visitors can hop on and off the van. The stops are:

Buenos Aires Celebra 2024

Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 — Noon to 6 p.m.

Av. de Mayo and Bolívar

BA Celebra is an event that has been held since 2009 to promote the culture of migrant communities in Buenos Aires City highlighting coexistence, inclusion and cultural pluralism. This second stage of the event will focus on six communities from Latin America: Cuba, Mexico and Venezuela on Saturday 13, and Bolivia, Ecuador and Paraguay on Sunday 14.

Latin American culture and tradition at BA Celebra


The event, on Avenida de Mayo between Bolívar and Tacuarí, features more than 80 food, crafts and cultural stands. So, apart from stuffing yourself with tacos, tamales, arepas, and chipá, you can also learn about the history and culture of these countries.
Over 30 performances will showcase the countries’ dance, singing and traditional music each day.

The Marx Brothers in Sala Lugones

Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 — 3 / 6 / 9 p.m.
Sala Leopoldo Lugones at San Martín Theater (Av. Corrientes 1530) — 10th floor

As part of its special Marx Brothers series, which ends on Tuesday 16, Sala Lugones will have a full-on Marx weekend, screening five of the most famous comedies by the legendary comedy group. A hilarious marathon featuring Groucho, Harpo, Chico and Zeppo, from Copacabana (featuring Hollywood star Carmen Miranda) to an all-time film classic like A Night at the Opera, which includes the famous boat cabin scene that critic Pauline Kael once described as “the funniest five minutes in the history of cinema.” The series also includes Room Service, A Night in Casablanca, and The Cocoanuts.
