Get Out! A weekend of boogying and end-of-year bashes

From Friday night DJ sets, to chill Sunday brewpub vibes, recommendations to carry you through the whole finde

It’s nearly the weekend and here’s your Buenos Aires recommendations to help you make it to the holidays. So go bop to cosmic music at a future-themed fiesta, raise a glass to some deep house beats, or nerd out over gorgeous temples across the city.

All you have to do is get through this last week and you’ll be on vacation, you’ve got this. Besides, everybody’s already so checked out by now, that nobody’s really paying attention as to whether or not you’re working — you’ll be fine.

Night of the Temples

Saturday 14 — 8 p.m. to midnight
Various locations around the city
Free entry

King Fahd Islamic Cultural Center in Buenos Aires

Normal people get excited about things like parties and food and Colapinto, and don’t get me wrong, I too love all of these things. But I don’t think it’s normal, the level of excitement I felt learning that Buenos Aires not only has a Night of the Temples, but that it is this Saturday. I text people to tell them the news as though it was some sort of personal accomplishment.

Every time I pass the mosque on Av. Bullrich next to the Palermo Lakes, I exhale in admiration and wish I could see inside — the exquisite design, those intricately tiled patterns. Thinking about all that natural light makes my knees shaky.

This Saturday, more than 80 temples are opening their doors around the city to share with the public their religious, historical, cultural, and architectural heritage. There are free guided tours and circuits of the temples, details are online. Also check the website for a map of participating temples and suggested routes.

ARTLAB Anniversary Party

Friday 13 — 8 p.m.
Roseti 93
Tickets available online, starting at ARS $50,000

Artlab. Credit: Adan Jones

This event is for the cool kids, think live DJ sets blending house, techno and percussion over fancy speakers. Good drinks, beautiful people, you know the drill. This Friday ARTLAB is celebrating their nine-year anniversary with a giant party and the best of contemporary house music.

ARTLAB is all about digital creativity, and you can expect nothing less at this event. They’re toasting the end of a year of cultural undertakings created or hosted by ARTLAB — projects with links to AI, electronic arts, live performances and parties including a launch and listening event for Charly García’s new album.

Watch this space, ARTLAB is cooking up some surprises for 2025. But for now, in typical cool kid fashion this event is almost sold out, so get your tickets before there’s none left.

Internashonal Love

Sunday 15 — 6 p.m. to midnight
Charlone Brewery (Freire 745)
Free entry

This chill Sunday get together at a brewpub is designed to connect locals and foreigners with a lineup of live music and interactive games. Charlone is a laid-back brewery with a welcoming, relaxed vibe. This is the second time they’re hosting this event, which is a hodgepodge of cultures and art from around the world.

There will be a live rhythm and percussion band, music improvisation with sign language,

Creole dance and song, Cuban rhythms, flamenco, a photography exhibition, art installations, and bar games like foosball, beer pong, chess and darts.

Raise a pint of craft beer in farewell to 2024, and dig into some good food at this eclectic cultural exchange.

Malba End Of Year Bash

Friday 13 — 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Malba (Av. Figueroa Alcorta 3415)
Tickets available online, starting at ARS$18,000

Malba’s Futuristic Party

Malba Amigos’ future fiesta is such a good idea for a party that I’m a little jealous I didn’t think of it myself. With a futuristic dress code, I’m fully expecting a room full of Marty McFlys, and will be disappointed with anything less.

This end-of-year event is an excuse to dance and celebrate 2024. There will be nighttime guided tours of Cao Fei’s exhibition El futuro no es un sueño (The future is not a dream). Expect wine, beer, and cosmic music.

If that’s not enough, proceeds from the event go to Malba’s educational projects which allow kids from Buenos Aires public schools to visit the museum exhibitions. Which means you’re basically boogying for a cause.
