Get Out! From Formula 1 to Mixtape listening bar, your Buenos Aires weekend recommendations

Head over to the Bahía Blanca benefit picnic, or throw back macarons and camembert at Recoleta’s French fair

The weather is getting crispier, and it’s time to take advantage of the remaining nice Buenos Aires weekends — here’s your recommendations to do so.

If you’re into cars, cruise down to La Rural to catch the Formula 1 exhibit on its Argentina leg of the tour. If you’re into music don’t miss Mixtape listening bar’s series where the bartenders take over the playlist. Dancing? Bust out your shoulder pads and head over to Paladium for a night in the ‘80s. And if you’re into food (who isn’t) we’ve more than got you covered.

Formula 1 Exhibition at La Rural

Runs through June 1 — noon to 8 p.m.
La Rural (Avenida Sarmiento 2704, Palermo)
Tickets start at AR$46,500 and can be purchased online

If you’ve got Colapinto fever, this exhibit isn’t one to miss. Taking you on a journey through the history of Formula 1, the displays span across many rooms and includes vintage and modern F1 cars, memorabilia, previously unseen photographs, and more. Upon entering the exhibit, you’re given an audio device to use for the videos as you make your way through the self-guided interactive parts.

Be prepared for the video of Romain Grosjean’s horrific fireball accident that takes up a full wall of the exhibit, alongside wreckage of the car that’s on display.

Buenos Aires is only the fifth city in the world to host the collection, and the first Latin American country. The Rural exhibit includes a special nod to Argentina with mementos such as Franco Colapinto’s karting suit and trophies that will only be on show during this leg of the tour. There are F1 arcade-style games to test your reflexes, and if you purchase a premium packet you’ll be able to do a five-minute test drive on a racing simulator.

Give yourself at least 90 minutes to go through the whole exhibit.
