Argentine golazos in the Premier League by Mac Allister and Lo Celso

The Albiceleste men, along with Enzo Fernandez and Facundo Buonanotte, showed up in big games in the English league

It was a prolific weekend for Argentine football stars in the English Premier League. True golazos from Alexis Mac Allister, Facundo Buonanotte and Giovani Lo Celso added to Enzo Fernández’s efforts as the Albiceleste stars got on the score sheet for their teams in key games.

Mac Allister’s was undoubtedly the pick of the bunch. The former Argentinos and Boca player, now at Liverpool FC, picked up a ball outside the area from a failed clearance by Fulham’s defense and lined up for a shot with his right foot, which he placed in the upper left corner. It was his first Liverpool goal, and undoubtedly one to remember as the Reds picked up the win 4-3.

Another key goal was Lo Celso’s effort for Tottenham against defending champions Manchester City. The Lilywhites were losing 2-1 away when the Rosario Central academy graduate got the ball at the edge of the area, cut inside with his left foot and slotted it low against the inside of the post to tie the game, which ended 3-3.

A similar effort was made by Brighton’s Buonanotte, who dribbled inside the box to open up a shot with his left foot, then curled it away from the goalkeeper to close the gap in the Seagulls’ defeat to Chelsea. It wasn’t enough to secure a win: Brighton lost 3-2.

Part of that win for the Blues was Qatar 2022-winner Fernández, who scored two for his team. With a header — his first Premier League goal — and a penalty, his efforts lacked the technical brilliance of his countrymen, but proved crucial as his team tries to climb from the middle of the table.
