Lewis Hamilton ‘can’t wait to go back’ to Buenos Aires

The Formula 1 champion called it a “beautiful city”

Runners of Buenos Aires won’t be surprised to learn that seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton is a fan.

“I was there for two days and I went running through the city and ran down this road, I don’t know exactly what avenue I was on,” Hamilton said in an ESPN interview before the season opening of the Bahrain Grand Prix. “And then I was just going through where they have the beautiful park and lakes.”

Hamilton surprised fans in December 2022 after posting videos of himself running around the city on social media with the famous University of Buenos Aires law faculty and lakes of Parque Tres de Febrero (more commonly known as the Bosques de Palermo or Palermo Forest) behind him. That would make the avenue in question Figueroa Alcorta, for anyone who wants to do a similar circuit.

“First time in Argentina, such a beautiful place,” he wrote on the post, with an Argentine flag.

“I was like wow, this is really beautiful, beautiful city so I can’t wait to go back,” he said during the interview.

Buenos Aires was a brief stop-off en route to Antarctica, where Hamilton went to spend New Year’s. He is currently in Bahrain, where he came in fifth in a disappointing start to the Grand Prix for the Mercedes team (fellow team member George Russell came in seventh).
