An Aerolíneas Argentinas pilots assembly is expected to delay 95 flights scheduled to depart from the Aeroparque Jorge Newbery airport in Buenos Aires between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday.
Flights departing between those hours may be delayed, according to the airline.
The company apologized for any inconvenience caused and promised to work to prevent disruption to passengers’ travel plans.
Passengers on flights scheduled between 3:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. should look out for emails notifying them of potential changes to their flight times, Aerolíneas said. The airline also asked passengers to check their flight information on the website of airport operator Aeropuertos Argentina (www.aeropuertosargentina.com) to check for any changes.
Travelers who bought their tickets through a travel agency are advised to ask the agency. More information is available on the Aerolíneas Argentinas website (www.aerolineas.com.ar) and app.
The assembly is organized by the Airline Pilots Association (APLA, by its Spanish initials). A similar measure is planned on October 24 from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Aeroparque, saying that there could be “delays and cancellations” while the assemblies take place.
Union assemblies are not the same as strikes, but they are a form of industrial action that can disrupt activity in aviation and other sectors.
In a statement announcing the measures on Monday, APLA accused Aerolíneas Argentinas of causing an “intentional delay […] as part of the salary negotiations” and “reiterated and systematic violation of our labor conditions agreement.” Aerolíneas Argentinas said the assemblies “attack the positive development and growth” of the company.
“We hold the company responsible for any inconveniences that may occur,” APLA said.
