Presidential feud heats up as Villarruel files complaints against three key Milei backers

The VP took aim against La Derecha Diario director Javier Negre, deputy Lilia Lemoine, and writer Nicolás Márquez

Vice President Victoria Villarruel and President Javier Milei’s ongoing feud added a new chapter on Monday as the VP filed two criminal complaints targeting a slew of public figures close to Milei.

In the legal action, she accuses them of “public intimidation and online harassment, among other things.

One of the complaints was filed against Javier Negre, a Spanish journalist and director of far-right outlet La Derecha Diario. The other was aimed at posts several libertarians, including national deputy Lilia Lemoine and Milei biographer Nicolás Márquez, made on social media platform X.

Contacted by the Herald, Lemoine called the complaint “ridiculous” and “an attempt at censorship.”

“It shows mental and character weakness, as she cannot stand up to citizens who question and confront her with the reality of her actions,” the deputy explained.

A source close to Villarruel declined to comment about the complaints or to share the documents, saying that “anything related to them must be consulted with the judiciary.” They added that the complaints were filed before federal and correctional courts in Buenos Aires City.

According to a post made by La Derecha Diario, which described Villarruel as “a traitor,” the complaint against Negre accused him of “public intimidation, threat of rebellion, and attacking public order.”

“Public intimidation was unveiling her treason against Javier Milei, the threat of rebellion was voicing how she uses the Senate to destroy fiscal balance, and the attack against public order was asking questions with a microphone from La Derecha Diario,” Negre wrote on X.

“She is attacking press freedom with the same modus operandi as Kirchnerism.”

The other complaint aimed to denounce what it called the “typical behaviors” of Lemoine and Marquez on X, as well as four other popular libertarian troll accounts. A fragment of the complaint shared by Lemoine shows that Villarruel accused those accounts of publishing “insults, affronts, and harassment” in a “daily, methodic, and insistent manner,” while also “encouraging” citizens “to hate” the vice president.

Among the X accounts mentioned is @Mialygosa, which has been largely attributed to Lemoine. The account’s description states that it is Lemoine’s side account but also mentions Candela Vidal, a Tres de Febrero city councilor candidate. The account claims to be a Vtuber — an online content creator who uses a virtual avatar. Lemoine frequently reposts publications made in that account but has denied that she runs it.

“[Villarruel] also filed a complaint against my alter ego, @Mialygosa… she is convinced […] that it is my account,” Lemoine said, adding a laughing emoji. “It’s not, but I will still protect it from you.”

Marquez also addressed the complaint, saying it was “state terrorism” and that Villarruel is using her “dominant power” to target him. He described her as “power-hungry, brute, and disloyal.”

“Should I wait for a task force to come get me?” he said, jokingly.
