'My running mate will not be from the Radical party," Alfonsín
UCR presidential hopeful Ricardo Alfonsín assured that whoever is picked to become his running mate “will not be from the Radical party,” and again reached out to other political forces besides his own.
“The ticket will not be strictly Radical. I don’t think it should be strictly Radical, because we’d lose the possibility of forming an alliance with other parties,” he stated.
However, Alfonsín refrained from stating who he thinks his running mate should be, although rumour has it that it could be Socialist governor of Santa Fe Hermes Binner.
Despite Alfonsín’s statements, the UCR has yet to choose either Senator Ernesto Sanz or Alfonsín himself as their presidential candidate on April 30th.
Sanz is expected to launch his presidential pre-candidacy at a rally in the Gran Rex theatre this afternoon.
Vice-President Julio Cobos, also a Radical who is planning to run for president, said he wouldn’t join the early primaries but be a part of the August primaries instead.
