Macri inaugurates first Metropolitan police station
In the crackdown on crime, city mayor Mauricio Macri, inaugurated the first police station of the Metropolitan Police in Saavedra neighbourhood. The station will have 400 officers working and will count with more than 20 vehicles.
There are also plans to inaugurate more police stations in the areas of Pueyrredón, Villa Urquiza and Coghlan.
During the presentation, Macri said he hoped that people could stay calmed in their houses and that the police station could remain empty of thieves. At the same time, he also mentioned his expectations for having the Metropolitan police present in the southern area of Buenos Aires city, which had been affected by the illegal occupation of lands last year.
In addition, the head of the Metropolitan Police, Eugenio Burzaco, confirmed that “the police station will function 24-hours a day to deal with crime."
