Four Argentines killed in a car crash in New Zealand
Four Argentine men were killed last night in a car crash on a road in New Zealand, local media reported. The tourists were on their way to the National Park in the central part of the North Island when the van they were travelling in collided head-on with another vehicle.
In addition, a 26-year-old passenger from Chile was taken to hospital in a critical condition. The truck driver suffered minor injuries.
According to the local press the station wagon in which the men were travelling smashed head-on into a logging truck.
“I would say it’s up there with amongst the worst that I would have encountered in my 32 years in the police,” Inspector Steve Mastrovich told New Zealand Newswire.
The victims were identified as Germán Cáceres, Nicolás Ursic, Agustín Donofrio and Luciano Pucheta.
