    Cobos doesn’t rule out running for Congress

    Former Vice-President Julio Cobos yesterday did not rule out running for the Lower House of Congress in next year’s mid-term elections, and even for President for the centrist Radical Party in 2015. Cobos cautioned against possible moves by the Peronist-led Victory Front ruling coalition to reform the Constitution to allow President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner to seek a third consecutive term in office.

    CFK leads May Revolution festivities

The President defended her government’s economic policies, called for regional integration and said that at some point in time she will have no choice but to pass on power to younger generations.

    AFIP targets travel agencies

    The AFIP tax bureau said yesterday it will deepen the controls on taxpayers who acquire foreign travel packages through tour operators. By use of a new software tool AFIP will be requiring additional details from travellers in what effectively amounts to further tightening the regulation of the foreign currency exchange market.

    Rajoy calls for help as bond yields jump

    MADRID — Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy insisted on his calls on the European Central Bank to act to bring down rising borrowing costs yesterday, after Spanish bond yields approached the levels that pushed Greece, Ireland and Portugal into bailouts and as nationalized group Bankia said it would need another 15 billion euros to survive.
