Kirchnerites send subway bill to Lower House floor

Kirchnerite lawmakers debate sending the subway bill to the Lower House on Tuesday.

The Victory Front, along with allies from other parties, voted in favour of sending to the Lower House floor a preliminary approved bill that orders the transfer of the management of the subway system from the National to the City government. The bill also calls for transferring 33 bus lines and the Premetro tram to the City’s jurisdiction.

The motion to debate the bill was voted by Victory Front lawmakers and allies. The Radical party supported the initiative in general, although with some “partial” reservations.

The decision to send the bill to the Lower House was reached in a joint meeting that included the Constitutional Affaires, Budget, Transportation, and Municipal Affaires committees.

The Victory Front will look to debate the matter in Congress on Thursday.

The same debate will take place later in the City Legislature, where the PRO party has warned that if the motion is not passed there, then the transfer will not be accepted by the City.
