Teamsters agree to voluntary conciliation over dismissed workers

Members of the teamsters'' union arrive in the Labour Ministry offices.

The teamsters’ union and the Correo del Sur company agreed not to follow the Labour Ministry’s call for a mandatory conciliation and instead work together in a voluntary conciliation that will remain in effect until March 31st, in a conflict that began after more than 80 outsourced workers were dismissed from the company.

“Both sides signed an agreement to pursue a voluntary conciliation until March 31st instead of having to resort to the mandatory conciliation. Their goal is to normalize the payment of salaries and to find a solution for the 81 dismissed workers,” Labour Minister Carlos Tomada informed.

Present during the meeting were members of the teamsters’ union and Correo del Sur.

Also present were members of the Camuzzi Gas del Sur company, who decided not to press charges against the unions involved in the protest.
