Woman dies as yatch hits canoe in Tigre

A canal in Tigre, Buenos Aires province.

A woman died and two of the other three underage girls on board were injured when a Uruguayan yatch hit the canoe they were travelling in, close to the Cuatro Bocas stream, in the Second Section of the Islas del Delta, in the Buenos Aires province.

The yatch, which was captained by Uruguayan citizen Eduardo Cantón, hit a canoe carrying an adult woman and three young girls.

The canoe was destroyed in the accident and 26-year old Lorena Rojas, mother of two of the girls, was killed after being hit.

Her 2-year old daughter remains in critical condition at San Fernando’s Cordero Hospital.

Rojas’ 4-year old daughter was unharmed in the accident, while her 15-year old friend, who was spending the day with them, sustained considerable injuries although doctors have assured that she is not in any danger.
