Rift between City Gov't, AFA causes San Lorenzo stadium shutdown
The match which was meant to take place today between San Lorenzo and Tigre clubs, as a part of the Open Tournament, was suspended after the Government Agency for City Government Control temporarily closed down San Lorenzo stadium.
The measure by the city entity was carried out as a preventative measure, to which the Argentine Football Association (AFA) had no choice but to attach and postpone the match programmed for today at 5 pm and move it forward to Monday at 8.30 pm.
“The conditions for the match to be able to be played were not up to standard. We did not permit the match to take place for today,” stated Javier Ibañez, head of the San Lorenzo authorities, AFA and sports Security Committee.
