Del Potro through to semi-finals at Delray Beach

Tennis player Juan Martín Del Potro advanced further in the Delray Beach International Open men’s tournament by making it to the semi-finals, after beating South African Kevin Anderson 6-4 6-4.

Del Potro, born in Tandil and ranked 166 in the ATP’s world ranking, got one of his rivals out of the way, before he is to take on his next challenge today against Mardy Fish.

Fish had beat Colombian Alejandro Falla 6-1 6-4 and had 2-1 over Del Potro who he had beaten in Memphis 2007 and in San José 2009.

Other results from yesterday’s quarter-finals were: Mardy Fish (U.S.) beat Alejandro Falla (Colombia) 6-1 6-4 6-Janko Tipsarevic (Serbia) beat Ivan Dodig (Croatia) 7-6(0) 6-1 Kei Nishikori (Japan) beat Ryan Sweeting (U.S.) 6-7(5) 6-2 6-4.
