Cobos confirms his absence from Radical primaries to Rozas
Ángel Rozas, newly appointed chairman of the Radical party (UCR) while Ernesto Sanz prepares his campaign, met with Vice-President Julio Cobos to talk about his participation in the April primaries, to be held on April 30.
Rozas said that in the primaries in April "members and non-members will vote" and that the electoral register will be provided by the National Electoral Court.
He went on to speak about his conversation with Ernesto Sanz, saying that “we believe that the best thing was to keep the primaries open, to enable a fair competition." He added that “we feel it's important that non-radicals have a chance to include their opinion.”
The newly party chairman went on to say that "Cobos has the right to not participate, but it's not the best idea, not for his campaign," and reaffirmed that the primaries on the 30 "aren’t illegal, as the law allows us to conduct early elections."
