PAMI head resigns
The head of the state-run PAMI healthcare programme Carlos Regazzoni resigned this week after President Mauricio Macri asked for his resignation in a meeting in the President’s Residence in the Buenos Aires City suburb of Olivos.
His dismissal took by surprise his team and PAMI employees. He will be replaced by Sergio Cassinotti, who currently runs IOMA, the Buenos Aires province’s state-run health care programme. The government decided to replace Regazzoni with a government official close to Buenos Aires Governor María Eugenia Vidal, and with experience in running health care programmes.
The former PAMI director had been criticised last year after he announced a cut in medication subsidies for pensioners that are in the highest income bracket.
