President Macri meets with Peronist governors
President Mauricio Macri, Interior Minister Rogelio Frigerio and secretary of Public and Institutional Affairs Adrián Pérez, today held a meeting with provincial governors from the Peronist Party who had expressed support to a government-sponsored political and electoral reform already passed by the Lower House.
The meeting, which lasted around 45 minutes, was held at the Olivos presidential residence.
"If we cannot get the reform approved by the end of this month, we will call for the extension of the Congress sessions so that we can implement a new way of voting in 2017," Frigerio told ambito.com.
Governors Domingo Peppo from Chaco, Gustavo Bordet from Entre Ríos, Mario Das Neves from Chubut, Omar Gutiérrez from Neuquén, Juan Manuel Urtubey from Salta, Alberto Weretilnek from Río Negro, Roxana Bertone from Tierra del Fuego and Juan Schiaretti from Córdoba attended the meeting.
Peppo told reporters he had some disagreements regarding the electoral reform while Urtubey considered the chip discussion “absurd.”
