Actress, ex-lawmaker Irma Roy dies at 84
Actress and former lawmaker for the Justicialist Party Irma Roy passed away today at 84. She died in the Sanatorio Agote, the private medical center where she had been hospitalized 10 days ago after suffering a domestic accident.
Osvaldo Papeleo, Irma’s former partner and the father of her daughter Carolina Papaelo, confirmed the news. Irma took part in 13 Argentine movies between 1948 and 1989. She was born in 1932.
With Argentina’s return to democracy, Irma began participating actively in the Justicialist Party becoming lawmaker in 2001 until 2005. She presided over the Culture Committee of the Lower House and was a member of the committees of Consumer Defence and Women, Child and Adolescence, among others.
In 2005, she was part of the “Amor en Custodia” soap opera and in 2008 she acted in “Flores de Acero,” a theater piece that had her daughter Carolina also in the cast.
