OAS Council meets over Argentina’s hedge funds dispute

The OAS Council called for a special meeting today to consider an Argentinean request to convene a meeting of consultation of ministers of foreign affairs for Thursday to discuss the country’s sovereign debt restructuring and its consequences.

The topic “Sovereign Debt Restructuring: The Case of Argentina and Its Systemic Consequences” will be subject to debate and reports will be presented by Argentine Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman, and Economy Minister Axel Kicillof, according to an OAS press release.

The meeting will be held in the Simón Bolívar Room, at the the headquarters of the Organization in Washington, D.C. The Council will then determine whether the foreign ministers are due to meet on the same issue for next Thursday.
