The photo every leader wants

The leader of the Túpac Amaru social organization Milagro Sala yesterday met with Pope Francis in the Vatican along with other indigenous communities’ representatives. Sala — who is also a provincial lawmaker in Jujuy province — issued a document to the pontiff where she called “to begin to write a new history between the Catholic Church and Abya Yala indigenous communities.” During the last months, many Argentine politicians took a 13-hour flight to Rome to return with their own snapshot with the popular pope — from President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner to Buenos Aires City Mayor Mauricio Macri or Broad Front-UNEN Senator Fernando “Pino” Solanas.
