In December 2013, Renault Argentina launched the new Kangoo, a model that leads the small van market. It was thoroughly renovated, taking on Renault’s new brand identity. In addition, the range offers six versions that suit the needs of different consumers. The new Kangoo has retained the key attributes that made it lead the market in recent years: comfort, practicality and quality. These features are part of the heritage of a model that used to be a pioneer in its respective segments. The Kangoo is manufactured in the Santa Isabel plant in Córdoba.

Exterior design

The model’s exterior is now in sync with all other Renault models, adopting the brand’s new identity in the front, which is characterized by a large diamond in the centre of black-framed grill with touches of chrome. The Kangoo boasts a sturdy appearance thanks to a new front bumper, along with the outer fender, which consolidates and reinforces the model’s new front.

Interior design

The asymmetrical double side doors and rear door are the gateways to the large 2750cm3 cargo compartment, which can withstand 800kg. This five-seater includes a reclining rear row, so its load capacity is not significantly reduced.

The Kangoo is a great solution to work in areas plagued by heavy traffic and minimal parking. The dashboard has been reworked to define the personality and style of the new internal environment, while an AM/FM Radio and CD sound system provides ideal company on long journeys.

The Kangoo has a 16V 1.6-litre petrol engine, which generates 95 HP at 5,000rpm with a torque of 30Nm at 3750rpm, providing all the necessary power and efficient fuel metering to reduce consumption rates. Its top speed of 165kmph, with acceleration from 0 to 100kmph, was achieved in 14.7 seconds. Consumption in the city clocked in at 8.6 litres per 100km. On the highway at 90kmph, six litres were required to travel 100km.

The driving position is higher, allowing the driver better visibility and increasing his sense of safety. This also makes it easier to enter the vehicle as you no longer have to stoop down to do so. There are airbags for the driver and passenger. The front brakes’ discs are ventilated, and both are accompanied by ABS.

The versatility of the Kangoo and its handling make it noteworthy, as it gives us the opportunity to travel with family but also to heavily load it up. If necessary, the rear seats flip up, increasing the volumetric capacity; consumption is more than moderate. Also in this new generation, Renault has sought a low cost of maintenance. For example, the cost of the classic 10,000km service for the Kangoo costs about 1,590 pesos.

The Renault Kangoo has a two-year warranty or 100,000km (whichever occurs first).
