La Plata administration forced to restore ads

The Supreme Court yesterday confirmed a preliminary injunction ordering the La Plata City municipality to include FM 92.1 radio station “among the radio stations included in the government advertising scheme.”

The top tribunal ratified a decision ordering the preliminary restoration of official advertising to the local station until a definitive ruling.

Advertising amounts “must not be lower than 50 percent of (the amount) allocated during the last year where the station received government advertising.”

The ruling, signed by Justices Elena Highton de Nolasco, Enrique Petracchi, Juan Carlos Maqueda, Raúl Zaffaroni and Carmen Argibay, gives the local administration 60 days “to prepare and present an objective distribution scheme for state advertising.”

The measure means the station will now start receiving at least 50 percent of the amount of advertisements it received until 2007.
