Macri rebuffs Penal Code reform

BA City Mayor Mauricio Macri waves at supporters as he readies to kick off a new period of sessions at the City Legislature.

Escorted by some of his cabinet ministers, Buenos Aires City Mayor Mauricio Macri rafitied his party’s rejection to debate the reform of the Penal Code in an “electoral year.”

Although he agreed the Penal Code should be amended and discussed over, the head of the PRO party affirmed such a debate should not be “politicized.”

“It has to be the Code of all Argentineans, not the Code of a sector. It has to be discussed without opportunism,” the mayor assured.
