US official warns over Syria Al-Qaeda attack
US Director of National Intelligence James Clapper has alleged that a Syrian faction of al Qaeda seeks to perform an attack on US soil.
Although no substantial evidence has been provided by the official, Clapper stated that the so-called “al Nusra” radical organization “does have aspirations for attacks on the homeland”, during a meeting with the Senate Intelligence Committee.
“The attraction of these foreign fighters is very, very worrisome,” he added according to the Guardian newspaper.
Meanwhile, EFE news agency reported that at least three alleged members of al-Nusra have been detained in the Northeast region of Lebanon, followed an army raid where it also intercepted a vehicle full with explosives.
The Jihadist front fights against Bashar al Asad regime in Syria, and it’s one of the many factions which compound the rebel forces.
