Assassination in Villa Celina
A youngster was shot dead and his uncle was hurt following a burglary committed by men dressed as policemen in the Villa Celina neighbourhood of the Greater Buenos Aires district of La Matanza. Following the incident, neighbours and relatives of the victims staged a protest at the local police station where they destroyed cars and damaged part of the building. Officers dispersed the protest using rubber bullets and tear gas, while provincial police chief Hugo Matzkin reshuffled the local police leadership as the national government sent Border Guard officers to the area.
The incident took place early Monday morning, when at least four people dressed up as Federal Police agents entered a house in Villa Celina and approached Bertis Rodríguez, the head of the family, asking him for some money they knew he kept at home. The burglars tried to escape but on their way out bumped into the victim’s nephew, José Barrientos, whom they shot several times.
