Driver detained and incommunicado
Federal Judge in charge of today's crash decided to detain and keep the train driver incommunicado in the hospital Ramos Mejía. According to judicial sources, Julio Benítez stole and tried to break the hard drive containing the recording of the security camera installed in the drivers’ cabin allegedly seeking to delete evidence of the accident’s causes. Interior and Transport Minister Florencio Randazzo confirmed the information.
The driver managed to hide the hard drive in his bagpack prior to his transfer to the Ramos Mejía hospital –he resulted injured after the crash. Police, however, found out about Benitez’s move with judicial experts commanded by judge Ariel Lijo were already working to recover the data.
