Once tragedy: Court ratifies State cannot act as plaintiff
A court ratified Judge Claudio Bonadío’s ruling denying the Planning Ministry to act as plaintiff in the probe for the Once train crash, in which 51 people died on February 22nd.
Sources said the court rejected Under-Secretary Rafael Llorens’ appeal to Judge Bonadío.
“The current indictment activity aims to establish the immediate and mediate causes of the incident, determined by the alleged lack of maintenance and investment that could have affected the safety of railway transport and could have been the reason behind the accident,” the court recalled in a statement.
Earlier this year, Bonadío had accepted the State’s role of plaintiff, but the measure was appealed by the plaintiffs and blasted by the victims’s families.
