Mitre Line train derails in Retiro station; 6 hospitalized

The last wagon derailed and crashed into a signaling tower.

The last wagon of a Mitre line train derailed when arriving to Retiro's terminal station in Buenos Aires City and crashed into a signaling post, leaving more than 30 injured, six of them had to be hospitalized.

Due to the accident, the service had to be suspended for a few hours, until an emergency service that did not get to the Retirto train station was applied.

The head of the SAME emergency service, Alberto Crescenti, reported that there were 33 injured, six of them had to be taken to Juan A. Fernández, Cosme Argerich, and Santa Lucía hospitals.

At least 19 ambulances, SAME staff, fire-fighters and policemen assisted the passengers that were left inside the wagon.
