Anti-Moyano unionists meet at UOM headquarters
Anti-Moyano union leaders met this afternoon at the UOM headquarters without the union’s head Antonio Caló, who is the main candidate to lead that umbrella union faction.
“He was not here, but there were other UOM officials,” health workers union Héctor Daer said, downplaying Caló’s absence. Caló was also absent during a meeting with President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.
However, after the anti-Moyano faction suggested Caló as candidate for CGT, Daer assured that that will be decided later on.
Daer also explained that the union leaders analyzed the meeting they held with President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. “We believe that Hugo Moyano’s tenure as CGT secretary general has come to an end.”
The CGT rift deepened in the last few weeks after Hugo Moyano led a Congress on July 12th and was reelected as Secretary General, but his opponents within the umbrella union are planning to hold elections on October 3rd.
