Rubbish piles up, collection services interrupted for third day
The City Government urged residents to not take out their rubbish this evening due to the continuation of the conflict regarding refuse collection.
Buenos Aires City was as dirty as it gets as thousands of bags pile up on the streets as rubbish collection companies lead into the third consecutive day of protests, thus paralyzing all services even though the CEAMSE conflict had finally been solved.
The conflict was due to the protest staged by several waste material recycling cooperatives were blocking the plant of CEAMSE garbage transport and stopping the trucks from the leaving the landfill.
As this new conflict arose, Buenos Aires City Environment Minister Diego Santilli requested residents to avoid taking out the trash last night via Twitter.Recyclers said that the measure was taken because the City, the Province and the company’s authorities “did not respond” to their demands.
