Multiple rallies grip BA city streets, provinces
Hundreds of trade unionists hit the streets of Buenos Aires City on Thursday, along other big cities across the country in demand of wage bargaining talks. Throughout the course of the day, various strikes and rallies took place across eight banking sectors and the UOM.
Bank workers carried out marches and rallies across the downtown area of the city of Buenos Aires, causing various traffic complications. Members of the same union also carried out rallies across various cities across the country.
Eduardo Berrozpe, the press secretary of the union, stated that banking representatives from across the country marched across Buenos Aires city centre against “the negativity of companies in signing a better wage deal, due on January 1. The union rejects a 22% hike.”
In addition, a national strike took place all day by the workers who form part of the UOM union, run by Antonio Caló, also in demand of better wages.
