'I'd rather lose with dignity than win ashamed,' Moyano

CGT labour confederation leader Hugo Moyano.

The head of the CGT labour confederation, Hugo Moyano, assured he’d rather “lose with dignity” in the umbrella union elections than “win ashamed,” in what was seen as a harsh message towards his competitors in the race and the National Government.

While speaking at a meeting of female unionists at th CGT headquarters, the teamster leader once again blasted the opposition candidates looking to replace him as secretary general of the umbrella union and compared the policies of President Cristina Fernándea de Kirchner to those of opposition lawmaker and former Labour Minister Patricia Bullrich.

He accused the Government of taking money away from workers through the income tax, “in an even worse manner than that applied by Patricia Bullrich when she was a minister” for the De la Rua administration.

“I’d rather lose with dignity than win ashamed,” he said in reference to the coming CGT general meeting on July 12, where the elections to choose their new secretary general will be held.
