After Jaime's resignation
Garrido: Gov't knew of irregularities involving Jaime
Ex-prosecutor and head of the Administrative Investigations Unit Manuel Garrido adverted that the Government "hid" the irregularities involving Ricardo Jaime and that the Congress did not control "the political responsibility" of the ex-Transport Secretary.
"The interesting part, on top of the scandal and the embarrassment of a public figure, is analyzing the mechanisms of those who do not control their political responsibilities. Congress did nothing and the Government helped to cover up irregularities. There are certain things that are not functioning properly," said Garrido.
The ex-prosecutor iniciated an investigation against Jaime in relation to the use of a plan that was rented to him by a Transport Ministry businessman named Claudio Cirigliano and the Aeropuertos Argentinos business.
Garrido said that "it has been proved" that Jaime made personal trips, using about 350 thousand pesos yearly.
In addition, Garrido held that the fact that the businesses involved in this investigation are from the transport branch of the government poses a serious "conflict of interests."
Adrián Pérez, head of the Civic Coalition bloc at the Lower House will ask judge Julián Ercolini to forbid former Transport Secretary Ricardo Jaime to leave the country, amid the law suit filed against government officials over alleged "illicit association."
"Jaime's resignation is not enough, he must appear before the Justice," he added.
Ricardo Jaime yesterday resigned to his post as Transport Secretary and will be replaced by Juan Pablo Schiavi.
